Vertical Launch System (VLS) -- -- Missile launch system on improved Los Angeles class submarines enabling them to vertically launch cruise missiles, allowing the torpedo room more rack space for torpedoes.
Vertical Surface -- -- The use of the hovering system to bring the ship up vertically to the surface, after which a low pressure blow will be conducted to fill the ballast tanks.
Vertical Salvo -- -- Multiple torpedoes launched with different search depths (one above the layer, one below) to increase the chances of a hit.
