1. EMERGENCY DEEP IS IN BOOKSTORES NOW!!!
The all-new military series from the USA Today bestselling
author
Michael DiMercurio
Emergency Deep
USA Today Bestselling Author
Michael DiMercurio Emergency Deep
First in an electrifying new series from “A MASTER
RIVALING TOM CLANCY.” Publishers Weekly
U.S. Navy submarine commander Peter Vornado is at the
top of his game in underwater warfare when a devastating
illness takes him out of the service and almost to the grave.
Without duty, honor, or something to fight for, his life is as
good as over.
But the CIA needs a man like Vornado…
A terrorist cabal has acquired a scrapped Soviet sub from
the Cold War -- a technologically advanced failure still able
to outrun any torpedo or enemy vessel and strike at will.
With a nuclear payload, it will enable them to strike directly
at Israeland throw the world into chaos. All that remains is
to modernize the sub with the latest technology.
Only one man can infiltrate the group, take the helm, and
stop a holocaust -- a man who has already stared down
death, and is ready to do battle once more…
“Compelling and visionary. DiMercurio’s characters run as
deep as his submarines themselves!”
Michael DiMercurio was an honors graduate of the U.S.
Naval Academy, a National Science Foundation scholar at
MIT, a graduate of the Navy Nuclear Training Program, and
a Navy diver. While a lieutenant, he served as a chief
nuclear engineer qualified officer and ship’s diver on the
USS Hammerhead, a Sturgeon-class fast-attack nuclear
submarine of the Atlantic Fleet. DiMercurio and the
Hammerhead spent more than fifty days trailing Russian
nuclear submarines.
DiMercurio’s Web site is www.ussdevilfish.com. He can be
reached at readermail@ussdevilfish.com. DiMercurio lives
in Princeton, New Jersey, where he is hard at work on his
next submarine novel.

2. THE 2005 NOVEL
For now I’ll call it TITLE: CLASSIFIED II. It is the second
in the series started by EMERGENCY DEEP with
continuing characters – at least those who survived the
disaster at the conclusion of EMERGENCY DEEP!
It has been delivered to Penguin Putnam, and they love it!
Unlike the first in the series, it presents a deeper challenge –
how to make it a “stand alone” novel, self-contained, able to
be read and enjoyed, even though it has continuing
characters from the first book. And how do I keep from
revealing the plot of the previous work? We’ll know who
lived and who died, but no other details will penetrate to the
present book.
That said, the characters lived through an epic event from
the 2004 book, and like all of us, they carry their scars with
them. The weight of their burden remains with them, always.
But that doesn’t mean the reader needs to see all that!
Trust me, you can pick up any DiMercurio book and enjoy it
if it is your first. There is no particular order to read them in,
and it might even be the most fun to start at the newest and
read backwards to the first.
3. NEW CHIEF OF STAFF – TIM SHARP
Tim Sharp, president of the Michael DiMercurio Fan Club,
is now the Chief of Staff, going through the email account
and alerting me to all contacts. Tim conducts a weekly chat
about the novels and corresponds with readers around the
world. In addition, Tim has done an excellent job of being
the new test reader, and he read EMERGENCY DEEP
before anyone other than the publisher, and (thank God),
Tim loved it. Look for more commentary on the
ussDevilfish.com website from Tim as he serves at the test
reader for TITLE CLASSIFIED II (the 2005 book, not its
real name!).
4. THE WEBMASTER – BILL PARKER
Bill Parker of parkerinfo.com has done an amazing job
making the ussDevilfish.com website (and the new
constructioncostcontrol.com website) a reality. Bill has been
one of my dearest friends since the beginning, and came into
sonar range after he put up Dale Brown’s Megafortress.com
website – check all of them out, they are simply amazing.
Bill specializes in author websites – even for those who are
not yet published – as well as literary agent sites, but don’t
let that stop you if you need a site. Contact Bill at
bparker@parkerinfo.com.
5. BACHELOR LIFE, DATING CHRONICLES AND
“THE MAKING OF” WEBSITE UPDATE
For those of you who are unlucky enough to be involved in
my personal life, you know I’ve gone through a second
divorce this year. My ex and I remain best friends as we
raise our 4 year old daughter and continue to raise my two
teenagers from my first marriage. Life is now radically
different for me, and since mid-year I’ve been dating thanks
to Match.com (my code name is BlackLab1980…check it
out if you want to see something funny). The stories from the
real life dating adventures could fill more books than all I’ve
written to date. I’ve decided that some of the “sea stories”
from dating in the 40s are so compelling that they must be
told. Anyone out there seeking a book proposal??? As one
of my female friends keeps saying, “Sex and the City” ain’t
got nothin’ on you. In any case, watch the ussDevilfish.com
website for these sea stories, which will be on the NEWS
section, but also watch for a “THE MAKING OF…” update
describing what was going on in my personal life during the
writing of each book. As I’ve been told a thousand times, my
life is arguably as entertaining as my characters’ lives, if not
more so. It’s the old Chinese curse, “may you live in
interesting times.”
***********************************************************************
A final word to everyone who has sent me an e-mail, please
accept my promise that I will get back to you. I read them
all in real time, but can’t always answer them for a few weeks.
If you are patient, you’ll hear back from me.
See you at test depth,
Michael DiMercurio
